Much of my professional working life has been in music. I am a saxophone player, and was also active in music publishing in New Zealand through the 1980s, as well as being the contract booker for television light entertainment shows. I was a member of the Band of the Royal New Zealand Navy, and then when kids came along, I went to university and the academic world held my interest. Qualifying with my Masters in Library and Information Studies was a 10 year slog, but it has been well worth the journey. Music is still a love of my life, but I do it for fun, and some of the best friends I will ever have are from my years in music.
